Sathyanarayana Nayak

Sathyanarayan Sir, originally belongs to Karkal Taluk, Yerlapady village. He did his primary education in Sri Ananthamathi Aided School Haikadka Bailoor. He completed his high school and pu education at Government Pre-University College Bailoor, degree education in Sri Bhuvanendra College Karkal. He pursued his M.P.Ed Degree in Mysore University.

From his primary education, he started his athletic career. He was selected for state level kho-kho and long jump competition from Dakshina Kannada. In high school level, he was selected for state level jump competition which was held in Bijapur.

He participated in long jump and triple jump in Mangalore University, under the guidance of Dr. Kemparaj Manjunath Shetty, Physical Director of Bailoor PU College and Prakash Kumar Jain, Headmaster of Haikadka Primary School. He won bronze medal. In 1998-99, he represented Mysore University in Inter-University volleyball competition. He participated in Mysore University Inter-College Tournament held at Vishweshwarayya Stadium in Mandhya. He won gold medal in long jump and silver medal in triple jump. He also won second place in state level hand ball tournament held at Maleynadu Engineering College in Hassan. 

In 1996-97, he completed his B.Ed degree and started working as Physical Director in M.G.M College. In this academic year he was recognized as the best trainer. In 1999 he completed M.P.Ed and in October 5, 1999 he joined SMS PU College as Physical Education Director.

Under his training, continuously 9 years SMS PU College won many prizes at Taluk, District and State level in kho-kho and athletics. From last five years under his training many athletes participated in state level competition and selected for national level. He also gave coaching in volleyball, khabaddi, kho-kho and weight-lifting. Sports Club Bangalore and Infosys Company Bangalore awarded him as the Best Coach, because of his service render in the field of sports.

Under his training Shubha Hebbar won the bronze medal in National level long jump competition. Reshma Almeida in shot-put and Prasanna Kumar in Javelin Throw won the first prize in South India Inter State Tournament. Under his training Ramesh Kumar, Puneeth Kumar and Gopal won many prizes in state level police sports tournaments.

Not only in sports, he also participated in co-curricular activities like tabala and yakshagana.

In the 2009-10 academic year Udupi District Athletics Association under the sponsorship of Nitte University, honoured him ‘Dronacharya Award’.

He is a hardworking, many faceted-personality, physical education director of our esteemed institution SMS.
